#7 Her Turn, Food Deliveries

Opening with toilet paper is probably a good sign that things aren't great here and we are still basically going through a shitty time.
Looks like I have Dengue now. This is my day 4. Doc came yesterday, Sunday and a holiday. Hard to beat that kind of service. Lab guy came this morning and took blood. Twice as much as Ray and twice the price!!! $49.67
I know this toilet paper is an environmental hazard but right now, it is a highlight of my day!!!!!!!! Smells lovely too.

Meet Pepe. Martha's brother. On Monday afternoon I snuck out, to help with the cabin fever, to visit Pepe and his art gallery. I bought a magnificent etching and he gifted me a lovely little nude figure. I love his work and always enjoy discussing art, politics and life in general with him.

This is his Mission St. Jose which is also a lovely peaceful motel type place. Love the colours and art every where.

These larger pieces belong in museums or hotel lobby or skyscraper office. Everyone has hidden figures, faces or animals hidden within for you to discover as you walk around it more than once.

After 10 days in bed, Ray wanted a torta and liquado for breakfast so we walked really slowly to the market to fulfill his dream.

Ray stuck with ham and cheese while I ventured into a combinado or everything. They have stopped putting in the hot pepper so I didn't have to fish it out this time. So delicious. Half now and half for tomorrow morning.

A strange sight caught my eye the other day. Actually it was the sound of ripping tape that first caught my ear. Our balconies are such an eye onto San Blas life. I have loved watching it all go by. Standing at a lamp post were three women, a small girl and a cop in full uniform including a gun. They were putting up these posters of missing people, mostly men, on all of the lamp posts over town. Sure hope it helped locate some of them!!!

Another day brought the sound of a whistle over and over again. I'm out on the balcony checking it out as Ray continued to sleep through it all. This guy and his woman were walking down the road. He was whistling and carrying this piece of equipment which I think is a knife sharpener. It is also a small seat where he sat and rested and had a smoke. If Ray had of been up and around, I would have rushed downstairs to find him some knives and given him some work for all of his efforts.

Since I became inflicted on Friday we have been surviving on food deliveries. Saturday night we had this amazing sushi. I really didn't have great expectations but oh my goodness it had to be some of the best I have ever had. Lots of shrimp which surprised me as I was expecting fish due to this being a fishing village. We will order again before we leave!!!

And now meet my new best friend. Lasts for 9, NINE, hours!!!! Get up, get cleaned up and then cover each other in this nasty spray which hopefully will prevent any more mosquito bites. Dengue the second time is not something you want to experience.

Today we had plans to go to Casa Manana for a few days. Cancelled. As soon as I feel well enough we will spend a few days there. On March 4th we are moving to Hacienda Flamingos which is one of San Blas's nicest hotels for 8 nights. Then to Puerto Vallarta for three nights and then HOME!!!

Lots of discussion and negotiation on where to spend our next winters. This may be our last trip to Mexico. The Wheatley House on Lake Erie is our number one choice.

Anyway I should get my blood results by noon and then the doc will come and see me again. For now, I'm going back to bed.

Hope next Monday finds us up and running as usual. Well, ok, how about just up!!!!
