#10 Revisit The Wedding and Hacienda Falmingos and the Grand Finale

Image
Yah I know. I'm a day late with the blog but let me explain. Yesterday we spent over an hour driving around Puerto Vallarta looking for equipales. Now, someone reading this may not know what that is so let me explain. They are the traditional pig skin furniture usually with a round table and four chairs. Since I've done a Mexican kitchen at home, I decided I needed one of these sets on Deer Lake Road. First, we couldn't find any for sale which also meant we couldn't find a place willing to ship them to Canada. Our taxi driver who didn't speak a word of English was probably as disappointed as we were. All is not lost as Ray found a place in Arizona who sells them and says they ship internationally so I'm working on that.  The posts above are part of the SB revitalization project. A few resemble the one on the left and in some places like outside of the popular Wala Wala Restaurant, they are totally missing now.  This massive structure built down by the library ...

#9 Hacienda Flamingos and The Wedding

Sitting on the square eating ice cream while Ray ate his lunch, hey if I want ice cream for lunch I can do that!!!, I saw this colourful picture and thought to myself, "That is so Mexico!" Gotta love it!!! Saturday was the big move to Hacienda Flamingo. This is the central area of the hotel. All of the rooms around the four sides. I have gobs of great pics but the internet is so slow here that they will have to wait for another time.  This is the outside porch onto a hallway that goes no where. Don't ask. This is Mexico. We have a bedroom, kitchen, living room and two bathrooms. We could even swing a cat if we had one!!! We have breakfast included every morning and I sure hope it changes after the last two morning being pretty similar...... It is a great place to stay right across the road from the Hichol market. Many good restaurants are right up the road which is well paved and brightly lit. OMG!!! We were invited to a wedding last Saturday of Jose, a former English stu...

This is a pretty unusual sight. They are either gathering for some family time or in for the kill. Sometimes those are quite interchangeable...... This was hilarious. I'm sitting in the lobby at Casa Manana waiting for my cab and talking to the people at the desk through this plant and no one saw anything strange about this situation at all!!! I was trying so hard not to laugh!!! Another one of those times..... This kind of art can be seen all over the place. I just love the colours and the joy they represent.  No wonder my breakfast took forever to come. When it arrived, it was obviously a piece of art and delicious!!!! FYI - When you travel and it takes forever to get your juice, it is probably because someone back in the kitchen is squeezing those oranges for you. Nectar of the gods!!! Friday morning and the oyster divers are out there by the drove. You can't get fresher oysters than here on this coast. Out of the ocean. Onto your plate!!! I hope to have one more dozen be...
